Hello!
Hope you're well, I wanted to share the products I took with me on holiday. Our family of four managed to squeeze all our clothes, shoes and big bottles of shampoo, and sunscreen into one little suitcase meaning that anything extra had to go in our hand luggage. These are the toiletries I took with me and I found that it suited my needs perfectly. It was just a little family holiday so makeup was minimal but the hot, muggy climate meant that my skin needed some loving that week or it would punish me horribly. So this is what I bought:
Ren Rose Cleansing Gel: This face wash is lovely! I'd love to buy the full size... maybe when my student loan comes in heheh. It's a pretty normal cleansing gel but it works wonderfully, smells great and leaves my skin feeling super clean without that horrible tight feeling I can sometimes get.
Elemis Illuminating Flashbalm: This was my moisturiser for the week. As I was using separate spf I didn't want anything too thick and greasy added to my skin. It also worked as a bit of a primer while brightening my skin like a charm.
Dermatologica Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque: I know it's not standard practice to take a masque on holiday, but since I had this travel sized one I thought I might as well take it and see how it worked. I used it three times during the evenings and it was such a treat for my skin, leaving it brighter and nourished.

Eyelash Curlers: Just a bog standard pair of lash curlers. When wearing minimal makeup I feel like long full lashes are a key part of still looking 'done up' so these were a must have.
No7 Exceptional Dimension Mascara: I have a lot of travel sized mascaras but I plumped for this one. It's a lovely mascara that gives me longer, fuller lashes without looking like I'm wearing heavy mascara.
MAC Pro-Longwear Concealer: Just because makeup is minimal doesn't mean there's room for imperfections! This is my favourite summer concealer as it's light enough for under the eyes but can be built up to cover blemishes and doesn't slide off in the hot weather.
Lancome Hydra Zen Teinte: Translation - tinted moisturiser! I'd love the full sized version is this, it's very smooth and creamy, goes on like a dream and, combined with my concealer, covers everything I want it to. I only wore this in the evenings so I can't speak to it's staying power but I still really enjoyed using it.

Thisworks Sleep Balm: My name is Bella and I am a terrible sleeper. Particularly in unfamiliar places but this little pot of calming lavender balm is great to rub on my temples and behind my ears to help me drift off a little easier. A must for those of us who are bad at sleeping in unusual beds.
Rose & Co Sweet Vanilla Salve: I practically grabbed this walking out the door having remembered that I hadn't packed any lip balm! It performed admirably though Burt's Bees will always have my heart. It did keep my lips soft and smelled absolutely amazing though!
Marc Jacobs Daisy Rollerball Perfume: One of my favourite summer fragrances in a handy travel sized rollerball format! This light, sweet floral was perfect to swipe on for summer evenings and i'm considering buying more of my favourite perfumes in smaller sizes!
Thankyou for reading! I hope you enjoyed, let me know your favourite travel products too!
Greetings all, I'm currently sat in my room having had a lovely summer BBQ I was planning completely rained off (till Tuesday anyway.) I think we in Britain were lulled into a false sense of security with the amazing weather we were having and then the heavens decided to open all over us, just so we wouldn't get too cocky.
But as I'm currently sat with the rain pouring outside I decided to share my current 3 favourite lippies, and the 3 I will be taking on holiday with me. A while ago I decided to start making use of some of the brights in my collection rather than just sticking with the nude pinks and peaches and I've actually really enjoyed making more of my lips. During the summer I spend a lot of time in sunglasses so fancy eye makeup is a bit redundant, but I'm really enjoying the combination of just liner and mascara with a bright lip. So without further ado (i.e. prattling on) here are my current three favourite lipsticks:
01. MAC's Flamingo - A staggeringly pretty coral that leans more to the pink end of the spectrum. It's glossy but comfortable to wear and is what I'm wearing in the top photo. I think it would flatter most and creates a bit of interest without being too loud. Sadly it is discontinued but Peace by 17 at Boots is pretty close as is Smashbox's Melondrama.
02. Revlon's Lip Butter Strawberry Shortcake - A perfect glossy mid-toned pink that can be dabbed on or layered depending on how much colour you want. For me this is the perfect transition into brighter lip colours if, like me, you usually stick with subtle colours or bare lips as the colour and texture make it very wearable.
03. Revlon's Matte Strawberry Suede - This is my bravest colour, I don't really do reds but this one has been getting used recently. It's matte but not at all chalky or drying and the rich cool red is very elegant looking while still being quite modern, particularly when paired with minimal makeup. Anyone looking to get a matte red, I would highly suggest this. It also turns a messy bun and sunglasses into a very cute casual rockabilly style I find!
Hopefully you found that helpful, let me know which are your current favourite lip colours. Do find sunglasses weather has you reaching for bright lips?

I'm due to go on holiday in a few weeks! (August the tenth to be precise) it's probably one of the last holidays I'll take with my family as in a few years I'll be out of uni and striking out on my own! (I hope) And it's been a really busy year for all of us, My parents have both had really tough times with work, my little brother had his GCSEs to stress over and, as I've mentioned I've just finished my first year of uni, so we're having a lovely relaxing villa break in Menorca! So I'm looking forward to lying by the pool with a tall icy glass of diet coke and just enjoying some good books. This is what I'll be taking with me to read, although I have a few more free books downloaded on my kindle If I manage to get through all of these.
.When God Was a Rabbit - Sarah Winman.
I confess this one was actually stolen from mama's bookshelf. She bought it quite a while ago and the title and pretty cover always appealed to me. She enjoyed it and, although we have very different tastes it sounds like something I would also enjoy! The back doesn't give much away, just that it's a book about love, particularly between a brother and sister. I have to say in a society of romances chucked into every story, I absolutely love a good book or film about familial or platonic (non-romantic) love, I think they're often far more interesting and emotional than typical romances. Plus I assume there'll be a fluffy bunny involved and that sounds good to me!
.The Hundred Year Old Man - Jonas Jonasson.
I may have shortened the title slightly... This book has been getting amazing reviews on Goodreads and as my summer job is working at an old people's home it's something I'm really interested to read. The title basically says what it's about, a man in a retirement home, on his one hundredth birthday climbs out of his window and runs away and has all sorts of escapades. Sounds adorable and funny so I can't wait to read it.
.The Emperor's Edge - Lindsay Buroker.
Finally my Kindle, which comes with me anywhere that I might end up sat awkward and alone and need something to read. The Emperor's Edge was a free book in the Kindle store which is quite often a synonym for 'not particularly good' but, having looked it up in Goodreads, (THE site for book lovers might I add!) I saw that it had very positive comments. It's set in a steampunk universe and follows a young enforcer (essentially police officer) as she attempts to deal with a conspiracy to kill the Emperor! I've already read a few chapters and am enjoying it so far :)
Hopefully I'll get through all these, either on the two hour flights there and back or while relaxing by our pool. I'll definitely give a reviews once I'm done. I've been wanting to get back into my book reviews as I've been stuck reading uni books for the last few months! But now that I have free time I can enjoy good books and share my favourites with you guys :)
Thanks for reading, and let me know if you've read any of these books or if more book reviews would be something you'd like to read here on BELLAETC xxx
Vera Wang Princess . Miss Dior Cherie . Marc Jacob's Daisy . Thierry Muglier Alien (sunessence) . Marc Jacobs Rain .
The weather's finally warming up! So in light of the lovely weather I thought I'd share some of my favourite summer scents. I don't necessarily not wear these in the winter, but I find that the warmer weather really brings these perfumes into their own.
These are the more 'well known' typical perfumes. Vera Wang, Princess is a gorgeous delicate floral with the tiniest hint of vanilla and musk that can be a bit dull but, in for a quick spritz in the daytime spring is lovely and feminine and flirty. Marc Jacob's Daisy is another floral but with a little more body. For something named after a flower it's actually more of a fruity scent but is fresh and happy and I love wearing it. Miss Dior Cherie is more gourmand. It's a hot sweet starchy-ness, reminiscent of burnt sugar and strawberry and perfect accompaniment to floaty dresses and pretty florals.
These are the slightly less well-known fragrances and are actually the two that I like the most. Thierry Muglier's Alien (Sunessence Light) is one of the limited edition Alien variation and it's an amazing light, green, fresh scent with hints of lemon and amber. This is one of those fragrances that get "ooh what are you wearing?" when I get close to people. Marc Jacob's Rain isn't exactly feminine, in fact it smells like someone put a man's cologne in a dress. It's an 'aquatic', smelling very fresh, like wet flowers and gets progressively muskier as you wear it. It's a great fragrance to wear when you want something classier than your average spritzes of sugar.
Thankyou for reading! Let me know what your favourite summer fragrances are.
An open letter to summer 2013:
Dear summer, hi,
HURRY THE HELL UP PLEASE!
Yours, Bella.

If you're in the UK then you've probably experienced at least a little snow in the last week. It's getting on my nerves. It's definitely March isn't? I haven't had some sort of horrific memory lapse and now we're in winter again have I? Despite the depressing weather I haven't let it get me down and I'm still slowly stocking up for an amazing summer to come. I've decided I want to at least have a go at self tanning this year as opposed to staying my usual paley-pale self all year round, I'm starting gently though, minimizing the risk of cheesy wotsit legs.
These sunglasses are by John Galliano. I found them in TK MAXX for about £45 which I thought was pricey but really liked them, then a quick google search later I find out these babies are worth over £500! Not bad if I do say so myself! #bargainhunter.
I'm also using the summer as an excuse to add to my nail polish collection. I've bought Coral by Barry M and Lucky Lucky Lavender by OPI. Both gorgeous shades, though as it's reverted back to winter a little bit I may need to buy more AW polishes! What a shame right?
Are you still in the mood for summer? What have you been buying recently?
